MasTec Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

June 15, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood, a national consumer protection law firm, is investigating the MasTec data breach, a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to sensitive personal information that was reported to the Attorney General of Maine.

According to the notice, MasTec discovered suspicious activity affecting a limited portion of its computer network in early October 2025. The company immediately engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate and remediate the incident.

The investigation later determined that an unauthorized third party gained access to a portion of MasTec’s network for several days during August 2025. Following identification of the affected files, MasTec retained a data review firm to analyze the contents of those files and determine what information may have been impacted.

Although the categories of information involved vary by individual, MasTec reported that affected files contained sensitive personal information belonging to impacted individuals.

Data breaches involving employee and personnel information can expose highly sensitive identity, financial, and employment-related information that may be used for identity theft, financial fraud, and other forms of misuse.

Federman & Sherwood is actively investigating whether MasTec implemented reasonable cybersecurity safeguards to protect sensitive personal information and whether this data security incident could have been prevented. The firm is also evaluating potential legal claims on behalf of individuals affected by the MasTec data breach.

MasTec reported that it worked with cybersecurity specialists to investigate the incident, enhance security measures, notify law enforcement, and provide affected individuals with complimentary identity theft monitoring and credit monitoring services through Financial Shield.

Consumers who received a notice regarding the MasTec data breach or who believe their personal information may have been compromised are encouraged to monitor financial accounts, employment records, and credit reports for suspicious activity.

The potentially compromised information may include:

  • Names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Other sensitive information
