Cardinal Services, Inc. Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

May 26, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood, a national consumer protection law firm, is investigating the Cardinal Services data breach, a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to sensitive personal information that was reported to the Attorney General of Maine.

According to the notice, Cardinal Services, Inc., Cardinal Employer Organization, and Preferred Employer Solutions collectively identified unauthorized access to their systems on or about June 30, 2025. During the investigation, Cardinal reportedly discovered an additional unauthorized access event on or about August 8, 2025.

The company launched an investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity professionals and later determined that systems accessed between June 25 and June 26, 2025, and again around August 8, 2025, contained sensitive personal information. Cardinal completed its review of impacted information on or about May 12, 2026.

The information potentially exposed includes individuals’ names and other sensitive personal information.

Cybersecurity incidents involving employee service and staffing organizations are particularly concerning because they may expose sensitive employee, payroll, and healthcare-related information that can be used for identity theft and fraud.

Federman & Sherwood is actively investigating whether Cardinal Services implemented reasonable cybersecurity safeguards and whether this data security incident could have been prevented. The firm is also evaluating potential legal claims on behalf of individuals affected by the Cardinal Services data breach.

Cardinal reported that it engaged cybersecurity professionals, secured its internal environment, and is offering complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring services through Epiq Privacy Solutions ID.

Consumers who received a notice regarding the Cardinal Services data breach or who believe their personal information may have been compromised are encouraged to monitor their financial accounts, healthcare records, and credit reports for suspicious activity.
