Laurel Eye Clinic Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
April 23, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving Laurel Eye Clinic following a notification filed with the Attorney General of Maine.
According to the notice, Laurel Eye Clinic became aware of suspicious activity within its computer systems on or about January 26, 2025. The organization immediately disconnected access to its network and engaged a third-party cybersecurity firm to investigate the incident.
The investigation determined that certain files were obtained by an unauthorized individual. A comprehensive review of the impacted data was completed on or about October 30, 2025, and the organization finalized the list of affected individuals on or about April 15, 2026.
The information potentially involved varies by individual but may include names and financial account information.
Laurel Eye Clinic reported that approximately twenty-two Maine residents were impacted and that notification letters were mailed on or about April 22, 2026.
In response, the organization implemented additional security measures and is offering affected individuals twelve (12) months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.
