Universal Pure, LLC Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
April 23, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving Universal Pure, LLC following a notification filed with the Attorney General of Maine.
According to the notice, Universal Pure identified suspicious activity within certain computer systems on or about August 20, 2024. An investigation determined that unauthorized access occurred and files were taken from the company’s network on multiple occasions between July 10, 2024, and August 20, 2024.
Following the incident, Universal Pure conducted a detailed review of the affected systems and data, which was completed on or about August 7, 2025. The company later finalized its notification process and provided written notice to affected individuals, including at least one Maine resident, on or about April 21, 2026.
The information potentially impacted includes individuals’ names in combination with Social Security numbers.
In response, Universal Pure reported the incident to law enforcement, enhanced its security measures, and is offering affected individuals twelve (12) months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through TransUnion.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether Universal Pure, LLC implemented reasonable cybersecurity safeguards and whether affected individuals may have legal claims.
