H&N Tax, Inc. d/b/a CSA Tax Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

February 23, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving H&N Tax, Inc., doing business as CSA Tax, following a notification filed with the Maine Attorney General.

According to the filing, CSA Tax experienced a network disruption on or about December 2, 2025 that resulted in unauthorized access to certain systems. Following a forensic investigation and data review completed on January 22, 2026, the company determined that personal information may have been accessed. Notification letters were mailed to affected individuals on February 20, 2026.

The information potentially involved includes individuals’ names in combination with Social Security numbers.

CSA Tax is offering twelve months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.

Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether adequate data protection measures were in place and whether affected individuals may have legal claims related to this cybersecurity incident.

The potentially compromised information may include:

  • Name
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial account information 
  • Other sensitive information
