WestJet, an Alberta Partnership (“WestJet”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (October 1, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces that it has initiated an investigation into the recent data breach involving WestJet, an Alberta Partnership (“WestJet”). According to a notice filed with the Attorney General of Maine, WestJet experienced a cybersecurity incident in which a third party gained unauthorized access to its systems.

The breach, which was discovered on June 13, 2025, involved the compromise of certain personal information of WestJet customers. The types of data potentially exposed include names, dates of birth, mailing addresses, travel document details (such as passport or government-issued identification numbers), and information related to travel accommodations or complaints. For WestJet Rewards members, information such as account ID numbers and points balances may also have been involved.

While WestJet has confirmed that credit card and debit card numbers, expiration dates, CVV codes, and account passwords were not compromised, the sensitive information exposed could still place individuals at risk of fraud or identity theft.

WestJet has reported the incident to law enforcement, including the FBI, and is offering affected individuals complimentary 24 months of credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through TransUnion.
