BFC Solutions (“BFC”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (August 15, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces that it has launched an investigation into BFC Solutions (“BFC”) following the company’s disclosure of a data breach filed with the Attorney General of Maine.
According to BFC’s notice, the company experienced a network disruption between June 18, 2024, and June 20, 2024, during which unauthorized parties gained access to certain systems. The investigation later confirmed that files containing personal information—including individuals’ names combined with other sensitive data elements—may have been accessed or acquired. BFC completed its review of the impacted data on June 11, 2025, and began notifying affected individuals shortly thereafter.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether BFC failed to implement reasonable safeguards to secure its network, potentially giving rise to claims under state and federal privacy and consumer protection laws. Data breaches of this nature often expose individuals to a heightened risk of identity theft, fraud, and long-term financial harm.
BFC has offered complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services for 12 months. However, these services may not fully address the harm caused by the breach. Legal action may provide additional remedies, including monetary compensation and court-ordered improvements to BFC’s data security practices.
The compromised information may have included:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Other sensitive information
