Texas Centers for Infectious Disease Associates (TCIDA) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (July 3, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces that it is investigating a data security incident involving Texas Centers for Infectious Disease Associates (TCIDA). The incident was recently disclosed in a notice filed with the Office of the Attorney General of Maine, and it involved unauthorized access and potential theft of sensitive personal and health information.
According to the notification, TCIDA first identified suspicious activity within its systems on July 19, 2024. Following the discovery, the organization engaged external cybersecurity experts to conduct a forensic investigation. The findings revealed that a cybercriminal had potentially accessed and downloaded data from TCIDA’s systems as a result of a breach involving a former third-party billing vendor.
The review, completed on June 17, 2025, determined that the compromised information may include names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, medical record numbers, Medicare/Medicaid numbers, health insurance information, and medical or treatment details.
In response to the breach, TCIDA has implemented additional security measures and is offering complimentary identity protection services through IDX. These services include up to 24 months of credit and CyberScan monitoring, a $1 million insurance reimbursement policy, and fully managed identity theft recovery services. TCIDA has also established a dedicated toll-free call center to support impacted individuals.
Federman & Sherwood is currently investigating whether TCIDA had adequate safeguards in place to prevent such an incident and whether affected individuals are entitled to relief under applicable laws.
The type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Health insurance information
