McLean Mortgage Corporation Data Breach Class Action Settlement

September 17, 2026 – A proposed class action settlement has been reached in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia resolving claims arising from an October 2024 data breach involving McLean Mortgage Corporation.

The lawsuit, styled In re McLean Data Breach Litigation, Case No. 3:25-cv-00461, alleges that a targeted cyberattack on McLean’s computer systems potentially resulted in unauthorized access to files containing private information. The information may have included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account numbers, passport numbers, health insurance information, and other personally identifiable information. McLean denies any wrongdoing, and the Court has not determined which party is correct.

The settlement class generally consists of individuals residing in the United States whose personally identifiable information was potentially compromised in the data incident occurring on or around October 17, 2024, including individuals who received notice of the incident.

Under the proposed settlement, eligible class members may claim three years of credit monitoring and identity theft protection, including $1 million in financial fraud insurance. Class members may also seek reimbursement of up to $1,000 for documented out-of-pocket expenses, up to $4,000 for qualifying extraordinary losses, and up to $100 for lost time spent responding to the incident. Alternatively, class members may elect a $45 cash payment.

The deadline to object to or request exclusion from the settlement is November 10, 2026, and the deadline to submit a claim is December 10, 2026. The Court has scheduled a Final Approval Hearing for December 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
