Community Dental Care Data Breach Class Action Settlement

August 28, 2026 – A proposed class action settlement has been reached in the District Court for Ramsey County, Minnesota, resolving claims arising from a December 2024 data breach involving Community Dental Care (“CD”).

The lawsuit, styled In re Community Dental Care, Case No. 62-CV-25-2490, alleges that an unauthorized third party gained access to certain files within Community Dental Care’s computer systems containing private information. The potentially affected information may have included names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, medical information, and health insurance information. Community Dental Care denies any wrongdoing, and the Court has not determined which party is correct.

The settlement class generally consists of individuals whose personal information was accessed without authorization in the data breach, including individuals who received notice of the incident.

Under the proposed settlement, eligible class members may enroll in two years of medical and credit monitoring, which includes $1 million in medical identity theft insurance. Class members may also claim reimbursement of up to $5,000 for documented, unreimbursed losses caused by the data breach or, alternatively, receive a $50 cash payment.

The deadline to object to or request exclusion from the settlement is September 24, 2026, and the deadline to submit a claim is October 19, 2026. The Court has scheduled a Final Approval Hearing for November 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Central Time.

Additional information regarding the settlement, including claim forms and important deadlines, is available on the Community Dental Care settlement website.
