Kovack Financial, LLC Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
August 11, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood, a national consumer protection law firm, is investigating the Kovack Financial, LLC data breach following a cybersecurity incident that may have compromised sensitive personal information.
According to the notice filed with the California Attorney General, Kovack became aware of suspicious activity on its computer network on or around August 28, 2025. Its investigation determined that an unknown actor gained access to files within the company’s network between August 8, 2025, and August 27, 2025. On July 16, 2026, Kovack determined that information relating to certain individuals was contained within the affected files and may have been accessed.
The sample notice does not identify the specific categories of personal information affected; that portion of the notice appears incomplete or individualized. Kovack states that, to date, it has found no indication of identity theft or fraud related to the incident.
As a precaution, Kovack is offering affected individuals 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company. The company also states that it secured its network, investigated the incident, reviewed its data security policies and procedures, and reported the event to appropriate governmental agencies.
