McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter LLP Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
March 13, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter LLP following a notification filed with the Attorney General of Maine.
According to the filing, McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter LLP discovered on December 4, 2025 that its systems had been impacted by an external cybersecurity incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized actor gained access to certain systems between March 28, 2025 and April 1, 2025.
Following the discovery of the incident, the firm conducted a review of the affected data to determine what information may have been involved and which individuals were impacted. The review determined that personal information belonging to certain individuals may have been acquired during the incident.
The information potentially involved includes individuals’ names in combination with other personal identifiers. The firm reported that five Maine residents were affected by the incident.
McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter LLP began notifying affected individuals by written notice on March 12, 2026. The firm is also offering impacted individuals twelve months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through Epiq.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether adequate safeguards were in place to protect sensitive personal information and whether affected individuals may have legal claims related to this cybersecurity incident.
