Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (December 15, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood, a national law firm focusing on data breach and consumer privacy litigation, is investigating a cybersecurity incident involving James J. Lynch, MD Ltd., doing business as Swift Institute, following the organization’s notification to the California Attorney General.
According to the consumer notice, Swift Institute discovered unusual activity within its network environment on or about January 30, 2025. The Institute promptly initiated an investigation to determine the nature and scope of the incident. That investigation revealed that certain files may have been copied by an unauthorized individual as part of the event on or around the same date.
Following a comprehensive review of the affected data, Swift Institute confirmed on October 14, 2025, that personal and/or protected health information belonging to certain individuals was contained within the impacted files. The information involved varies by individual but may include personal identifiers and protected health information, depending on the individual’s relationship with the Institute.
In response to the incident, Swift Institute states that it promptly investigated and addressed the issue, reviewed its data security practices, and implemented measures designed to further protect the confidentiality and security of information in its care.
To assist affected individuals, Swift Institute is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring, credit report, and credit score services, along with proactive fraud assistance, through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company. These services include alerts for changes to a credit file and access to identity theft remediation support.
Federman & Sherwood is working in collaboration with O’Mara Law Firm, led by David O’Mara, to investigate whether Swift Institute implemented reasonable cybersecurity safeguards prior to the incident, whether the unauthorized access could have been prevented, and what legal rights may be available to affected individuals.
