Genex Services, LLC Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (July 11, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood, a national law firm specializing in data breach and consumer protection litigation, is investigating a recent data security incident involving Genex Services, LLC (“Genex”), a managed care service provider for insurance companies, employers, and third-party administrators.
According to a notice filed with the Maine Attorney General’s Office, Genex discovered suspicious activity within its network on February 25, 2025. The company promptly secured its systems, notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and launched a full investigation with the help of third-party cybersecurity experts.
The investigation determined that Genex had been the target of a phishing attack that compromised the laptops of two employees. As a result, an unauthorized actor gained access to files containing sensitive personal information. The review concluded that affected data may include individuals’ names and other personally identifiable information tied to insurance claims.
Though Genex states it has no evidence that the information has been misused, the company is notifying affected individuals and offering 24 months of complimentary identity monitoring services through Kroll.
Federman & Sherwood is currently looking into whether Genex implemented adequate safeguards to protect the sensitive personal data of individuals whose information it was entrusted to maintain.
