Cookeville Regional Medical Center Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
April 17, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving Cookeville Regional Medical Center following a notification filed with the Attorney General of Maine.
According to the notice, Cookeville Regional Medical Center discovered on or about July 14, 2025, that it was the victim of a ransomware attack. An investigation determined that an unauthorized third party accessed the organization’s network and may have viewed or acquired certain files between July 11, 2025, and July 14, 2025.
Following a comprehensive review completed on or about March 16, 2026, the organization determined that the affected files contained personal information belonging to certain individuals.
The types of information involved vary by individual but may include sensitive personal data maintained within the organization’s systems.
In response to the incident, Cookeville Regional Medical Center took steps to secure its network, engaged forensic specialists, and notified law enforcement. The organization is also offering affected individuals twelve (12) months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through Experian IdentityWorks.
