The Cooper Health System (“Cooper”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (May 28, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood, a national law firm specializing in data breach and consumer privacy litigation, is investigating a data security incident involving The Cooper Health System (“Cooper”), a New Jersey-based healthcare provider.
According to information provided to affected individuals, Cooper discovered unusual activity on its network in May 2024 and immediately took steps to secure its systems. The healthcare provider retained third-party cybersecurity experts to conduct a thorough investigation. On March 26, 2025, Cooper confirmed that certain data stored in its systems may have been accessed or acquired without authorization.
The review concluded that personal and protected health information (PHI) of individuals affiliated with Cooper was included in the potentially compromised files. To date, Cooper has stated there is no evidence that the information has been misused.
In response to the breach, Cooper has enhanced its network security protocols and is providing affected individuals with complimentary identity protection services through IDX.
