Federman & Sherwood Investigates Sonic Corp. for Data Breach

Oklahoma City, OK (September 28, 2017) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood has initiated an investigation into Sonic Corp. [NASDAQ: SONC] with respect to a data breach. On September 27, 2017, Sonic Corp. reported that it was notified by its credit card processor last week of unusual activity with cards that had been used at Sonic Restaurants.

Sonic Drive-In, a fast food chain with nearly 3,600 locations across 45 U.S. states, has acknowledged a breach affecting an unknown number of store payment systems. The ongoing breach may have led to the sale of millions of stolen credit and debit card accounts that are now being peddled in shadowy underground cybercrime stores. The first breach appears to have happened September 15, 2017. A Sonic spokeswoman said in a statement that an investigation of the breach is under way and the company does not know how many or which stores were impacted.
